I’ve always loved reading — escaping into a good book has always felt like heaven on earth. And writing? It’s been my safest space, the easiest way to express how I feel. But once I became a partner, a mother, a homemaker, and a part-time employee, I barely had time to read a single page, let alone write. Life became about getting through the day.
Now, in this season of transition — even as I navigate homelessness — I’ve found a strange kind of silver lining: space to write again. With fewer domestic distractions and responsibilities, I’ve returned to something that grounds me. Writing has become my outlet, a way to process, reflect, and maybe even keep depression at bay.
I created The Comforting Mum as a space for myself and for women like me — women who feel like they’ve lost themselves in the chaos of motherhood. My hope is that through these posts, another mother might find encouragement, healing, or simply a moment of stillness. My purpose is to share my truth, in all its mess and beauty, so others don’t feel alone. And my vision is to offer honest stories, lessons I’ve learned, and reminders that even in brokenness, there is still light — and life — to be found.
Starting this blog has reminded me that even in the middle of pain, we can create something meaningful. I don’t have everything figured out, but I’m learning to give myself permission to heal, to grow, and to speak my truth. And if that helps even one woman feel less alone, then it’s worth it.
Affirmation
“My voice has power. My story has purpose. I am healing, growing, and becoming the woman I was always meant to be.”
Signed,
The Comforting Mum 🤎
